The Turkish American community organized The Qur’an Reading & Reciting Contest and Award Ceremony among the students of the weekend schools and after school programs. Sponsored by Turkish Cultural Centers.

North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC) had the honor of organizing their first Qur’an reading Contest. During this past summer students had the privilege of studying with dedicated teachers to help advance their reading and memorization of the Qur’an. 60 students participated from the Tri-State area, 25 were selected to compete in the contest. Students mesmerized the audience by reading directly from the Qur’an and through memorization.

NEICC’s director Halil Atas, said in order to continue the children’s interest in Quran, the center will continue to organize such competitions while delivering his opening remarks.

The competition ranked based on first, second and third places with many students closely tied with their remarkable performances. The prizes consisted of books as well as money awards.

The event was taken place at Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey.

NEICC congratulates all the students and wishes their success to continue.
