Family Halaqa with Prof. Dr. Aras Konjhodzic: The Ways of the Prophet and Modern Medicine

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC) and the Islamic Center of Veronaco-hosted a special Family Halaqa with guest speaker Prof. Dr. Aras Konjhodzic from Fordham University’s Chemistry Department.

The topic, “The Ways of the Prophet and the Modern Medicine,” inspired deep reflection on how the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) continue to provide wisdom and guidance relevant even in today’s scientific and medical world. Prof. Konjhodzic highlighted connections between Prophetic traditions and contemporary health practices, reminding us of the balance Islam encourages between faith and science.

The evening began with Maghrib prayer, followed by a potluck dinner where families shared delicious home-cooked meals and desserts, showcasing the generosity and hospitality of our community. After dinner, attendees engaged in the main lecture and Q&A session, where thought-provoking questions led to rich discussions about integrating Islamic values into daily life and professional fields. The program concluded with Isha prayer, leaving participants spiritually nourished and intellectually enriched.
