ramadan

Muslims around the world see the holy month of Ramadan as a time to reconnect with God and their spiritual sides. To do this, many read and recite the Qur’an, the direct word of God. Many meet up in groups to recite together. Out of these groups, those with the greatest knowledge of the Qur’an and those who possess the necessary prose often read out loud, with others reading, listening, and following along, discussing certain passages and how they relate to their lives. These individuals attain both the level of makam, tune, intended and read according to tecvid, set of rules governing correct pronunciation. North East Islamic Community Center New Jersey partnered with Turkish Cultural Center New Jersey in bringing the community together to have a spiritual reawakening. Those participating will be awarded a Certificate of Completion by the NEICC.
