social night

Even though extremely cold weather concerned organizers regarding attendance of audiences, NEICC held its traditional monthly social family gathering on Feb 1st, at Turkish Cultural Center, Clifton, NJ with a great turn out.

As usual, program started with night prayer (isha) and then followed by delicious potluck dinner. Following dinner, a beautiful Quran recitation was given by brother Yildirim Hodja with his heartwarming voice. Subsequently, guest speaker, Mr Hasan Erkan, PhD, gave a speech about “Three Universal things”. This was about three great teachers who teaches human-beings about existence of our creator – Allah. Those are; Universe, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and Holy Qur’an.

He then focused more on Universe as a teacher. Stating, all beauties surroundings human beings are giving humans a message that they cannot be random or created by themselves. Even a simple needle requires a maker. Main message that he was carrying was “If you see a beautiful craft, that requires an existence of a craftsman who built that craft”. Then, he asked why human thinks of this beautiful and extremely complex universe can exist without a maker (creator), while a simple needle requires a maker?

He then mentioned about Newton’s (the most influential scientists of all time) interaction with his atheist friend which can be found in detail here; http://apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=9&article=877.

He then talked about Second Law of Thermodynamics which states that in a closed system, an available energy will become less and less, until finally you have no available at all that finally results in heat death. In other words, if Universe was in existence for infinite time (as some atheist claims), then, it should have already resulted in heat death. Since that was not the case, then Universe came to existence for some limited time ago (big-bang theory), and eventually will reach to heath death, unless there is someone (i.e, Allah) who is not bounded with this law keeps providing energy that is known as continuous creation by the theologians across the all Abrahamic faith systems. As a tradition, program ended with question and answer session
