NEICC VOLUNTEER WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Northeast Islamic Community Center held its annual volunteer educational workshop at Turkish Cultural Center in Clifton, NJ on October 16th, 2016.
The workshop was for volunteers who provide Islamic services and mentors at correctional facilities at east coast. Dr. Carrie Washington, director of Spiritual Services at Essex County Correctional Facility, Imam Salih director of chaplains from NY state prisons, Imam Askiya chaplain from NY City correction facility, Fatih Akdemir director of chaplains from PA state prisons,Erol Dincer director of House of Hope PA, Ahmet Celenli volunteer from NEICC Rochester,Orhan Cetin excutive director at NEICC, Fatma Tufan Chaplain from NJ state prison were the guest speakers at the workshop.
At the workshop several presentations and speeches were presented for the following subjects: the importance of volunteering at correctional facilities, rehabilitation and re-entry of the inmates, reaching out the inmates families, teaching materials and techniques, religious programs and religious book presentations, volunteering experiences etc.
The workshop was very successful and it was well received by the attendees.
