The Excellence of Hastening to Break the Fast

607. Sahl ibn Sa’d, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “People will continue to be all right as long as they hurry to break the fast.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sawm, 45; Sahih Muslim, Siyam, 48).

608. Salman ibn Amir ad-Dabi, may Allah be pleased with him, the Companion, reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When one of you breaks his fast, he should break it with dates. If he cannot find any, then he should break it with water. It is pure.” (Sunan Abu Dawud, Sawm, 21; Sunan at-Tirmidhi, Sawm, 10).
